Hypnotherapy & Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Hypnotherapy & NLP can help people to overcome many psychological, emotional and even some physical problems. The relevant range of problems is very wide: lack of confidence, insomnia, emotional trauma, anxiety, mild depression, panic attacks, studying/exam nerves, migraine, phobias, unwanted habits of smoking and overeating are just a few of the many that could be listed.
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind when you are in a relaxed state. The therapist will then enlists the power of your own imagination and may utilise a wide range of techniques from story telling, metaphor or symbolism to the use of direct suggestions to initiate beneficial change. Analytical techniques may also be used in to work through deep seated emotional difficulties and concerns. It is generally considered helpful if the client is personally motivated to change (rather than relying solely on the therapist’s efforts) although a belief in the possibility of positive change may be a sufficient starting point.
Can everyone be hypnotized?
The answer to this question is undoubtedly YES, however some people are more readily hypnotisable than others and this might also depend upon the person’s willingness to be hypnotised at the time. This willingness will itself depend upon a number of factors such as the strength of the person’s particular need to progress and their trust and confidence in the therapist.
Is hypnotherapy dangerous?
Hypnotherapy is not a dangerous procedure. It is not mind control or brainwashing. A therapist cannot make a person do something embarrassing or that the person doesn’t want to do. The most important thing is that the client is able to trust his/her therapist and feels comfortable and at ease.
How quickly does hypnotherapy work?
Unlike many other psychological therapies, Hypnotherapy is generally considered to be a fairly short-term approach in which beneficial change, if it is to occur, should become apparent within a relatively few sessions.
